At Shrubgarden you can find a number of grasses available, which can add some height, texture and colour to your garden. Whilst regular grass may be plentiful, ornamental grasses provide a beautiful point of difference to a green space. Grasses can be planted among shrubs and flowerbeds, can be used to create some edging or to add a level of flair to a forgotten patch of your garden. Grasses can also be used as groundcovers, helping to prevent the growth of weeds.
Ornamental grasses are popular because they’re very easy to care for. Some grasses are deciduous, meaning they’ll die back in the autumn but may still retain their form, whereas others are evergreen. Deciduous grasses should be cut back before new growth appears in the spring, whilst evergreens only require a tidy-up to remove any dead foliage.
The Hakonechloa macra is a semi-evergreen ornamental grass with variegated green leaves and yellow flowers in the summer, whereas the Hakonechloa macra All Gold features variegated yellow leaves along with yellow flowers. Other varieties include the porcupine-like Miscanthus sinensis Strictus and Miscanthus sinensis Morning Light.
Every one of our plants is lovingly grown in our Northumberland nursery, with delivery available across the country. We’re sure you’ll love your new grasses and see them grow and develop over time, which is why all our plants come with a 12-month guarantee.
In addition to grasses, we have a broad selection of shrubs, herbaceous plants, ferns, climbing plants and trees at Shrubgarden. You can also find our eye-catching woven willow; in addition to conifers, compost, decorative stone, gifts and garden shed essentials.
