Collection: Ferns

At Shrubgarden you can find a good choice of ferns available that can add a level of intricacy and intrigue to your garden. Ferns are highly-versatile and ancient plants that are very easy to care for. They aren’t affected by pests or diseases, and prefer to grow in the shade, so constant bright sunlight isn’t required.

A fern can add a woodland feel to your garden, giving your green space a softness and also a sense of wildness that only usually tends to be found during a stroll through the forest.

One of the most common varieties of fern is the Dryopteris – also known as wood ferns or male ferns – which feature bipinnate fronds that give it a shuttlecock-like appearance. Most in the genus are evergreen, but some are semi-evergreen, meaning they lose some (but not all) of their foliage in the winter. Other popular ferns include Cyrtomium, Doodia and Polystichum.

Every one of our plants is lovingly grown in our Northumberland nursery, with delivery available across the country. We’re sure you’ll love your new ferns and see them grow and develop over time, which is why all our plants come with a 12-month guarantee.

As well as ferns, we have a great selection of shrubs, trees, herbaceous plants and conifers. You can also find our beautiful woven willow; as well as climbing plants, grasses, compost, decorative stone, gifts and garden shed essentials.
